Hungarian Hot Wax Pepper Plant

This medium hot pepper variety is usually harvested before maturity when still yellow. It measures between 4″-6″ inches in length (10–15 cm) which tapers to a rounded point. When maturity, the pepper becomes orange, then red. This pepper requires full sun, pickles well and can be grown in 3-5 gallon pots.

Growing Instructions: Plant outdoors when night time low temperatures are consistently above 12°C, place a handful of compost beneath each plant. Water deeply and less frequently, early in the day or later in the afternoon. Do not over water.

Harvest Instructions: Carefully cut fruit from plant when full sized before they soften, can be harvested whether yellow, orange, or red. It will become sweeter as the fruit ripens. Harvest regularly. Fruit that grows after late August will not usually develop or ripen. Pull out the entire bush just before the first frost and hang it upside down in a warm, dry place to ripen hot peppers.

Companion Planting: Plant with basil, carrots, cucumbers, eggplant, parsley, and tomatoes. Avoid planting next to beans, Brassicas, or fennel.
